Raymond Warehouse Manager Kevin Morales volunteered his time as a forklift driver at the 2024 Northern California Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) Design Build Competition at Cosumnes River College. This year’s competition featured 43 teams tasked with constructing a 96 square-foot structure for a community end user over a two-day period.
Before construction, teams faced the challenge of designing and preparing construction documents for their structures, which were reviewed by volunteer community plan-checkers and architectural professionals. After the competition, industry professionals judged the structures on design completion, construction quality, code compliance, and safety.
The CIEF Design Build Competition, with events in Northern California, Southern California, and North Texas, promotes career awareness in the construction industry among high school students.
We extend our gratitude to CIEF for hosting the Design Build Competition and for fostering education and growth among young people. A special thanks to the instructors and volunteers for their vital role in shaping the future generation of builders and designers.
Raymond would like to congratulate all the students of the 2024 CIEF Design Build Competition for their hard work and dedication in completing their impressive structures!
