Raymond recently participated in the Future Construction Leaders Foundation (FCL) Camp for Teen Girls. This annual summer camp provides teen girls a unique, hands-on, approach to a construction career at no cost. During the week full of activities, participants handle power tools and learn the essential elements of various construction trades, as they are challenged with building a structure (this year was chicken coops). They build skills in communication, teamwork, and self-confidence.
Throughout the event, Raymond provided equipment and mentors (skilled carpenters) to teach campers various construction techniques like roof sheathing, framing, interior drywall, exterior siding, housekeeping, and painting.
Created as a community outreach to increase interest in the construction industry among women, FCL Camp provides skills that last long after the program ends. For more information, visit https://www.futureconstructionleaders.org/.
