The Raymond Group is one of the Pacific Southwest’s most experienced fireproofing contractors, with over 50 years of fireproofing experience. We’ve successfully fireproofed hundreds of structures ranging from small office buildings to large commercial towers. Raymond maintains approximately 20 fireproofing crews, along with the equipment to support full operations of each separate crew. Our equipment inventory always includes redundant machinery to ensure that no time is lost if a key piece of equipment breaks down and to give us the bandwidth to take on many projects simultaneously without overextending our resources.
Raymond recently completed the fireproofing at our IQHQ RaDD project in San Diego. IQHQ is a new life-science mixed-use development comprised of mid-rise buildings, a 17-story tower, and ground floor retail, dining, and public space.
For fireproofing, the development’s four buildings each required Z-106 at the garage levels, MK-10 at the project’s combined 34 floors, and Z-146 at all mechanical areas. Each building was constructed independently, and concurrently, from the next, meaning schedules overlapped creating additional challenges regarding loading, cleaning, and equipment. Five pumps were utilized throughout the project to spray the 60,000 bags required to meet the individual building schedules.
Raymond has been a member of the National Fireproofing Contractors Association (NFCA) since 2007, and our team has received extensive training and certification through NFCA. This includes Raymond Senior Estimator Paul Steele, who has served as President and Vice President of the NFCA. Paul is currently a board member of NFCA as well as Chairman of the NFCA Technical Codes and Standards Committee.

As contracting partners, Raymond prioritizes clear communication and coordination. We recognize that our fireproofing work is only one component of a much larger project, and that true success means supporting the fast, efficient, and thorough completion of the entire project.
