By using building information modeling, different stakeholders on the project collaborate by adding, modifying, or updating information in a shared model, resulting in a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of the project. This digital representation then becomes a resource that is leveraged to make decisions, even after the building has been completed and occupied.
This method of incorporating all stakeholders early into the process is called integrated project delivery, or IPD. Paired with BIM, it is the perfect method for larger more difficult projects.
